Master Beekeeper David Barrett gave a very interesting and informative talk last night at Temple Newsam on the beekeeping tradition of "taking the bees to the heather". Every year LBKA organise a site up on the moors outside Otley, where members can take colonies in the hope of getting a good crop of Heather honey. David explained the logistics of preparing colonies, transporting them and then processing the honey after hopefully, what will be a successful season on the moors.

Good luck to everyone taking their bees this year!
